    Feature writing

    £105.00

The challenge for any writer today is getting people to read their work and keep them reading. In a feature article you usually have more time and space to develop an idea, or series of ideas, and look at a subject in-depth. You have more room for tone and colour, so your readers feel they are really there with you. All this makes it an exciting, but challenging piece of work to create. This e-learning course helps you break down the whole process of feature writing and try out lots of different techniques.

    1. This was an incredibly helpful course! Margaret does a fantastic job laying the groundwork for different kinds of features and even gives you a ton of takeaways of how you can apply that to your own writing. That said, paying for the feedback is absolutely worth it. Not only did my piece come back clearer, her concise, spot-on feedback was just what I needed to hear to get my article into (a very happy) editor’s hands. Can’t wait to take my next course!

    2. I found the course really interesting and very easy to follow. It confirmed some of the ways I work already (and gave them names!) but it also gave me lots of new ideas to work with and new things I can try. I’ve already put some of it into practice and received good feedback. I’ve made lots of notes which I’m sure I’ll refer to time and time again. The communication I’m responsible for is usually not the most interesting subjects – but often critical – and my readers (internal) are very busy. The new tricks I’ve learned will help me to make my communication material look more interesting, to hook the reader so that they read the whole article and hopefully help them remember the key points. I was very impressed with the whole experience and have no hesitation in recommending this course.

    1. This course has improved my proofreading and made me more confident in my abilities. The course itself is clear and easy to understand, but the best part is the feedback. Seeing each error outlined and explained has helped me exponentially! I’ll definitely be referring back to my notes for this course!

    2. I have been a writer/editor/proofreader for 17 years and, on occasion, take refresher courses to keep my skills sharp. The proofreading class offered by ContentECTC was very informative, contained challenging exercises, and touched on aspects of proofreading that many e-learning classes omit, such as how to best prepare to proofread and determining the best environment in which to proofread. Those aspects are just as important as proofreading fundamentals like grammar and punctuation. I highly recommend this e-learning course.

    3. I found this course very helpful. I certainly learnt some things about how I was proofreading and some new tricks for the future. It took tight amount of time too. Many thanks. (Would it be funny if I put loads of howling errors in this post? No? Oh.)

    4. I really enjoyed the course, I found it easy to follow and the feedback element was really useful. I would recommend it to anyone interested in learning or polishing up their proofreading skills.

    1. A great course that has really enhanced every aspect of my review and test writing. With encouragement and constructive feedback from Piers, it was easy to make changes and come up with new ways of writing for the target audience.

    2. I found this course to be very useful. Piers helped to highlight many valuable things to think about when writing a review. Good feedback, though it took a while to be returned.
